New Single on Patreon Now

Rockaway Park, NY, Sunday, November 1st, 2020

My new single ‘Maybe Next Year’ will be my first official release in over three years.  It will be out on Bandcamp and usual streaming platforms later in the month. It’s available right now through my Patreon page. It’s a simple song that looks forward, hopefully, to a less complicated time. I would love to think that it might bring you 2 1/2 calm and positive minutes, we could all use that this week.

I wrote it over the summer and recorded my parts in late August. Warren gave me some immediate positive feedback and recorded his beautiful mandolins and a backing vocal a little later. Brandon added bass and harmonies and mixed it just a few days ago. I’m proud of it. I hope you like it. The photograph is from an unusually quiet Rockaway Beach, New York, on Memorial Day earlier this year.

I miss performing for you in person, more so, I miss catching up before and after gigs. Where ever you are, I hope you and yours are okay.

Thank you, thank you, thank you,

Niall

Maybe Next Year

Maybe next year I’ll get home for a week or two,

Keep the workload light, have some quiet time with you.

I miss my family and my hometown,

The evening summer hue,

Maybe next year.

You can come over here any chance you get to,

Always room in my house, always room for you

Nobody sleeping in your bed,

Nobody touching your food,

Always room in my house for you.

If I don’t see you here, I will be coming to you,

Maybe next year, maybe next year,

If we all make it through.

I’ve got a bag of tunes and a box of strings,

A mop and a broom for any trouble I might bring,

I’ve been mapping out tours of my favourite rooms,

Scheming of playing them, playing them with you.

If I don’t see you here, I will be coming to you,

Maybe next year, maybe next year,

If we all make it through.

If I don’t see you here, I will be coming to you,

Maybe next year, maybe next year,

When we all make it through.

Niall Connolly – vocals and guitar

Brandon Wilde – bass and harmonies

Warren Malone – mandolins and harmony

Mixed by Brandon Wilde.
